A while ago, I sent one of my favorite pictures to the Danish photography magazine “Digital Foto”, and I was incredibly lucky enough to have it chosen as their Photo of the Month.

While it might not be the most crazy, life-altering event in the world, having your work recognized in a printed photography publication is something you can definitely allow yourself to be a little happy and proud about! As photographers, we spend so much time behind the camera, tweaking settings, and editing raw files, so seeing the final result printed on glossy magazine paper is always a special feeling.

The Reward: Winning a Pentax W60

With the honor of winning Photo of the Month, there also came a nice little prize in the form of a Pentax W60 digital camera. It looks like a really nice, sturdy little compact camera—perfect for bringing along on trips where you don’t necessarily want to carry a heavy DSLR or mirrorless setup. I’m looking forward to testing it out and seeing what kind of images this tough little point-and-shoot can produce.

Why Submitting Your Work Matters

If you are an aspiring photographer, I highly recommend submitting your best photos to magazines, online contests, or local exhibitions. Getting published—even in a local or national magazine like Digital Foto—is a great way to boost your confidence, get your name out there, and push yourself to constantly improve your craft.

There is nothing crazy or deeply technical in this post—it’s honestly just a little show-off moment from a proud photographer! :)
