Carl Zeiss has a very high reputation for creating quality glass. Until now this has not been available for Canon cameras. The lenses will be off the usual high Zeiss quality and will in no doubt catch the interest off many pro photographers.

The new line up will come complete with electrical contacts so all modes such as p, av, tv and manual will work perfectly. The cameras focus confirmation will also partly work on these full manual focus lenses.

Lens data will be transferred to exif if you are shooting digital. Also E-TTL metering will be available with these new lenses.

The first two to hit the market will be Planar T* 1,4/50 ZE and the Planar T* 1,4/85 ZE. These should be on the market in the last quarter of this year. Carl Zeiss promises to expand the line-up in the future.

Keep in mind thought that these babies does not come in cheap. The recommended prices from Carl Zeiss will be Planar T* 1,4/50 ZE 579 euros (incl. 19% German VAT) and Planar T* 1,4/85 ZE 999 euros (incl. 19% German VAT)
